Appearance Anxiety Inventory

The Appearance Anxiety Inventory (AAI) is designed to measure cognitive and behavioral aspects of body image anxiety, particularly in individuals with visible differences or body dysmorphic concerns. Developed by Alex Clarke and colleagues in 2013, it assesses preoccupation with appearance, avoidance behaviors, and safety-seeking behaviors. The AAI is widely used in clinical psychology and cosmetic surgery settings to evaluate body image distress.
